How Our Governments Have Helped

Select Committee on the Climate Crisis

The Select Committee on the Climate Crisis is a committee that was formed in order to present radical policy ideas and changes to Congress that pertain to climate change and the international crisis it has created. The goal of this committee is to introduce policies to Congress that address the role that the United States is playing in the global climate crisis and to subsequently reduce the activities throughout the United States that are causing the contributions to climate change.

Vermont

The State of Vermont has passed an official ban on all single-use products, including plastic bags, styrofoam take out containers, and plastic straws. This law requires that stores and restaurants use only sustainable single use products, or that the customers bring their own reusable products to replace the single-use products

Massachusetts

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is working towards a goal of net-zero emissions by the year 2050. Ideas on ways to achieve this goal that are being introduced to the state government include solutions to climate issues that introduce new lifestyles that are accessible to people and families of all social classes. The various bills proposed in an effort to reach this goal include protection for all against environmental pollution--an issue that most directly affects those in lower classes and in poverty within Massachusetts--as well as introducing more energy efficient, net-zero buildings and cleaner personal and public transportation.
